The working groups on All-Optical Switching/Manipulation of Magnetization (WG1) and Optics of Spin Currents (WG2) are hosting a joint meeting on 14th-16th March in Messina, Italy. The aim of the meeting as we approach the end of the COST Action is to bring together members of these two working groups, as well as some leaders in the fields to discuss recent developments in the field. The working groups will also hold meetings to update the working group members on recent activities and plans for the final period of the action. Note that the interest of the University of Messina in the workshop is expressed by the participation of the Rector Prof. Salvatore Cuzzocrea. Transportation from/to Catania airport
Catania Fontanarossa “Vincenzo Bellini” International airport is the nearest and most convenient airport at about 100km from Messina. It features several flights from the major Italian cities such as Milan, Rome, Naples and Venice (Alitalia, Meridiana,…) and many international direct flights from important European cities such as London (British Airways), Paris (EasyJet), Berlin, Stuttgart, Zurich (Air Berlin), Munich (Lufthansa), Malta (Air Malta) and many more. Lots of charter flights from all over the world land to Catania too. From Catania airport you can reach Messina in two hours drive by very convenient direct highway A18 (direction Messina). Rental companies are available at the airport. Direct buses from the airport to Messina town centre are available every day. Check the timetable on www.saisautolinee.it.

One can also travel to Reggio Calabria Airport but the logistic to arrive in Messina is complicated. You need to take a taxi from the airport to the ferryboat station (https://www.blujetlines.it/oraripasseggeri-reggio.html) From the arrival the garibaldi R&B will be at walking distance.
Meeting Location, lunches and dinner
The conference location will be in downtown Messina (Piazza Pugliatti, 1 - 98122 Messina). Lunches will be provided on Tuesday and coffee will be provided between sessions at the meeting. The dinner on Monday and Tuesday is being arranged; more information will follow.
